Excel Pools & Landscaping
Pool builder in Tyler, Texas
Details not confirmed
Pools and landscaping come from one crew at this East Texas company, in business since 2004. It builds inground custom gunite pools and spas, then adds landscape design and installation plus outdoor kitchens and living areas so the whole backyard is finished together. The construction sequence runs from excavation, plumbing and shotcrete through masonry, decking, equipment setup, plastering and landscaping, with a project manager on site throughout. Owners receive a demonstration on basic pool care at handover, and the company points them to outside cleaning services rather than running routes itself.

Licensing and insurance
Licensing in Texas. Texas has no state license for swimming pool contractors, so there is no state register to check a pool builder against. What is licensed is the sub-work: pool plumbing and gas lines must be done by a plumber licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and pool electrical by an electrician licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio also require contractor registration with the city before permits are issued.
Excel Pools & Landscaping's website does not say whether the company is licensed or insured. Ask for the plumber's and electrician's license numbers and a certificate of insurance before signing.
