Shellback Design
Pool builder in Prosper, Texas
Details confirmed
A designer with more than 25 years of landscape and pool experience leads this family-owned Collin County builder, which blends design and construction in one hands-on process. Work spans custom pools and spas, remodels of existing pools, custom water features, fire pits, decking, and hardscape such as brick walkways, patios, walls and outdoor kitchens. Cabanas, arbors and pergolas can be built, and landscape design and installation is matched to the pool. Equipment from Pentair, Raypak, Jandy and Sta-Rite is sold and serviced. The company serves Plano, Richardson, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Prosper, Denton and nearby communities, describes its crews as screened, bonded and insured, and recommends lenders for clients who need financing.

Licensing and insurance
Licensing in Texas. Texas has no state license for swimming pool contractors, so there is no state register to check a pool builder against. What is licensed is the sub-work: pool plumbing and gas lines must be done by a plumber licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and pool electrical by an electrician licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio also require contractor registration with the city before permits are issued.
Shellback Design's website states that the company is licensed or insured; we recorded the claim, not a verification. Ask for the plumber's and electrician's license numbers and a certificate of insurance before signing.
